Smarter shopping in Etsy's vast, crafty marketplace.
Consumers shopping for everything from cookies to handmade tables have been turning to Etsy, an online marketplace with 1.4 million active shops listing 29 million items from nearly every country.
But its girth may also be its downfall — especially for those new to the site, who can be overwhelmed by the number of options.
Start by browsing and adding items to your favorite list, said Hannah Album, Etsy spokeswoman.
"The more you 'favorite,' the more new items and great gift ideas you'll discover in your activity feed that becomes personalized to your taste," she said.
Some of the greatest buys on Etsy are men's vintage neckties. The designs from the past are so much more interesting and the silk used is amazing. Our store offers styled images so that you can get inspired and see the accurate color and texture of the tie before making a purchase. Not the murky garage sale images as seen on Ebay.
We handselect the "pick of the litter" vintage little gems and treat them as such. Always cleaned and then polished up with Renaissance Wax, a brand of microcrystalline wax polish that is widely encountered in antique restoration and museum curation. Although not appropriate for all materials, it is known to and used by almost every collection. It is also used as a primary finish for cabinetry and furniture. Renaissance wax is also used by re-enactors of historic swordsmanship to protect armor and weapons. It is widely recognized that this substance is more protective and longer lasting than oil, especially for swords and helmets that are frequently touched by human hands.
